They can be used as party favors!

If your child has a birthday in the spring or summer, if you’re planning a boy-themed baby shower, or maybe you just need something to do to keep your little one’s hands busy, these adorable clothespin airplanes will put a smile on anyone’s face! Or maybe you are getting ready to travel on a big vacation this summer break, and have a nervous first-time traveler? Clothespin airplanes are also a great way to get your little one ready and comfortable to travel in an airplane if you are going anywhere for spring break or summer, helping them to get familiar with the different parts of the airplane if they’re nervous about their first time on an airplane.

The best part? They are super easy to assemble and your little ones will be playing with their new airplanes for hours and hours. The next best part? They’re super inexpensive, totally custom and quick enough to make for mom to whip up some backups – just in case!

What you’ll need and how to assemble

Here is what you’ll need from a quick trip to the craft store so you can create your very own clothespin airplanes:

  • 3 popsicle/craft sticks – 2 for the wings and 1 cut into two pieces for the tail
  • One clothespin for the body of the airplane
  • Paint – at least two colors to make the body stand out from the propellor, wings and rudder

Here’s how you will make it:

  • Carefully take apart your clothespin
  • Set the spring aside
  • Or, keep spring on to paint over it if you don’t intend to use it as a clip
  • Paint the clothespin and crafting sticks in whatever colors of your choosing and set aside to dry. During this time, you can move on to another one and have multiple ready at the same time!

  • Once everything has dried, draw or glue on on any additional decorations your little one might like on the airplane
  • Reassemble your clothespin
  • Use your hot glue gun to glue on the wings, propeller and rudder
  • Parents only! Watch out for those little fingers.

Clothespin Airplanes Glue Drying

  • Wait for the glue to dry
  • Get to the runway and take off!

What else can you use them for?

So you’ve made your clothespin airplanes, but what now? Aside from being a super quick, fun, customizable and easy toy to play with, here are some extra tips, tricks and ways to use your Clothespin Airplanes once you’ve made them:

  • Use them to hold little thank you’s in the party favor bag if you choose to use them as a party favor!
  • During the school year or summer camp, use them to close a lunch bag or to hold sweet, encouraging notes!
  • You can also stick a magnet on the back and put it on the fridge to hold photos, notes and grocery lists!
  • Put them on the back of your child’s toothpaste tube to slide down whenever they use it! The farther the plane travels, the more excited they will get!
  • Use it to clip all their school work together neatly inside their folders to keep from a messy backpack!
  • Put some velcro on the back and use as the marker on a chore or reminder board!

We got our inspiration for this DIY from Create Craft Love and put our own spin on their Clothespin Airplanes.

The Me Too Play Tent

Me Too Play Tent

Our Me Too Play Tent is the perfect place to sit and help your little one craft away – because it fits you, too! Get it?

Our Polyester Taffeta tent is so durable, it can be used indoors or outdoors – ideal for those spring and summer clothespin airplane adventures in the yard! It gets even better – you can use the tent alone or combine it with our matching Find-Me 6FT Tunnel! Have more than one tent or tunnel? Even better! You can even connect several tunnels and tents together to create a whole city – which is a great place for a clothespin airplane to prepare for takeoff, and even better for spring and summer playdates.

Me Too Play Tent Mesh Ventilation

The Me Too Play Tent also comes with “mesh” ventilation panels at the top of the tent to allow for a breezy airflow on hot days, to protect from bugs while getting some fresh sunlight, to see the moon if you’re playing at night, as well as easy viewing from the outside for parents to see all the action inside!

With a super easy and quick set-up and a waterproof floor, the Me Too Play Tent is absolutely perfect for playing on the grass! And luckily, if it gets dirty or paint spills, it’s easy enough to hose down or wipe and wait to dry before folding and packing up in it’s handy travel and storage bag to bring inside. And, once it’s inside, the fun does not stop! Just simply open it back up and keep the fun going – it is both for indoors AND outdoors!

If you have more than one child, there is no need to worry about arguing over who gets to play inside – the tent is also designed and sized for group play, which means your little one can fit in a full clothespin airport with their siblings and friends! Our quality, durable construction will ensure no airplane accidents will harm or damage the tent, and it’s bright, happy primary colors make it ready for all the best spring and summer activities.
