Top o’ the morning to you! With St. Patrick’s Day coming up this weekend, we decided to channel the luck of the Irish and create DIY gold coin holders for a fun obstacle course challenge with a pot of gold ending, inspired by the colorful hues in our Rainbow Swirl 6FT Tunnel!

We’ve taken our classic polyester tunnel design and given it a colorful twist with our brand new Rainbow Swirl 6FT Tunnel! Measuring 6 feet long and 19 inches tall, the Rainbow Swirl Tunnel is the perfect size for young children to work on their gross motor skills in a fun and stimulating environment. It comes complete with hardened spring-steel construction and radius-cut hook and loop fasteners. To multiply the fun, attach the Rainbow Swirl Tunnel to additional tunnels or tents using the Tunnel Port. Best of all, your child can stretch their imagination for hours in comfort thanks to the padding around the spring-steel frame. When your little one has finished playing, simply collapse the tunnel for easy storage.

For more on how our different tunnels are great for each age group and how they can help with developmental motor skills at an early age, check out the theory behind our tunnels here.

The only thing better than a rainbow-hued tunnel is a fun St. Patrick’s Day treasure hunt to go along with it! For our treasure hunt we supplied our little ones with DIY gold coin holders. Here’s what you’ll need to make them.

SUPPLIES:

  • Mini bell peppers
  • Green cardstock
  • Baking cups
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Hole punch
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrush
  • Acrylic paints

To make gold coin holders, simply cut mini bell peppers in half, dip them in green paint, stamp onto small baking cups and then paint on “stems” to create a clover pattern.

Once the paint is dry, punch two holes in the top of each cup and thread pipe cleaners through until you have a handle for easy gold coin transporting.

Finally, embellish the bottom of the coin holder with tiny strips of green paper for festive flair.

Once the gold coin holders are made, sprinkle gold coins around the backyard or park and send the kids on a mini treasure hunt!

(Make it rain gold coins!)

And for the final leg of the challenge, crawl through the Rainbow Swirl 6Ft Tunnel until you reach a pot of gold at the end!

To create the pots of gold, paint the exterior of a terra cotta pot with green paint and add polka dots and stripes and fill with treats!

Wishing you a very lucky St Patrick’s Day!
