Happy Veterans Day! We are so grateful to those who have served our country and today we want to say thank you by creating DIY poppy flowers in their honor. Not only are these flowers colorful and striking, but they symbolize the physical and emotional sacrifice that our armed forces have made during war time. After World War I, the poppy flourished in Europe which scientists have attributed to the French and Belgian soils becoming enriched with lime from the rubble left by the war. From the dirt and mud grew a beautiful red poppy…how beautiful is that?
In keeping with our patriotic celebration, there’s no other product of ours that symbolizes America quite like our Americana A-Frame tent! The cotton canvas exterior is held up by sturdy wooden frame poles and features painterly stars and stripes that are inspired by our nation’s flag.
At 42″ x 45″ x 35,” this tent has plenty of room for playing inside while natural light streams through the roll-up windows.
The windows also offer an excellent opportunity for little hands to hone their fine motor skills in a playful setting!
There is also an open floor to allow for imaginative play and the ability to bring in furniture or soft floor coverings, no matter the terrain.
Our Americana A-Frame truly is the perfect playtime “home” for your “brave” little one!
We believe that the perfect accompaniment to our Americana A-Frame are tissue paper poppies in honor of Veterans Day!
SUPPLIES:
- Tissue paper (red and green)
- Pipe cleaners (green and black)
- Scissors
Fold a few sheets of red tissue in half and create the flower shape by trimming out several petals.
Take the black pipe cleaner and roll into a ball on the end of the green pipe cleaner.
Place the bottom of the green pipe cleaner through the red flower until the black center is nestled inside the flower.
Take green tissue paper and cut it into leaf shapes. Add the leaves onto the green pipe cleaners and now you have a poppies!
Let freedom ring!
