Creating DIY animal masks is a fantastic activity for school-aged children, with only minor help required from an adult. Here’s what you’ll need:

SUPPLIES

  • Paper plates
  • Acrylic paint in various colors
  • Paintbrushes
  • X-Acto knife
  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Hot glue (or other strong adhesive)

ZEBRA

Paint the stripes, eyes, and snout in black paint.

Highlight the hair on top of the face with blue paint.

ELEPHANT

Paint the entire plate light blue. Add the trunk and ears using a darker blue.

Paint the inner ears pink.

LION

Paint the mane using various shades of yellow paint.

Add thin stripes of orange around the mane for extra detail.

Paint the snout in black and cheeks in pink.
Carefully cut out eye holes for each of the masks using a X-Acto knife. Finally, adhere popsicle sticks to the bottom of each paper plate to act as a handle and set the animals free!

It’s a jungle out there!
