Where has the year gone? Summer is officially full-swing ahead with July right around the corner! Being that Independence Day is just a week away, we wanted to share a fun way for children to express their patriotism in a creative and hands-on way.
Here’s what you’ll need for your child to customize their own Americana-themed teepee:
SUPPLIES:
- Cotton Canvas Painting Teepee with Painting Set
- Cardboard
- X-Acto Knife
- Pencil
Begin by cutting out a star shape from a sheet of cardboard using an X-Acto knife to create a stencil for painting.
After the stencil is created, hold it against the Cotton Canvas Teepee to lightly trace out the shape. This is a great way to plan out the entire design of the teepee without fully committing with paint just yet.
Once the entire teepee design is laid out, hold the stencil up to the drawn out star and begin painting over it using the acrylic paints that come included with the Cotton Canvas Teepee.
This is a wonderful activity for children of all ages as it encourages concentration and creativity. It’s also a great way for a child to take ownership of their play space, as they can choose their own colors and designs to best suit the style of their room.
As tempting as it might be to jump right in after finishing painting, let the teepee dry completely before playing 🙂
Once the canvas is dry, pile everyone in for a festive play experience in their customized teepee!
Since the teepee is over 5 feet tall, there’s plenty of room for your child and their friends to pile in while watching fireworks light up the night sky!
