Now that Thanksgiving is over, the Christmas holiday spirit has kicked into overdrive everywhere. We’re not walking into any stores, watching any TV or going on the internet without it totally thrown in our face, and to be honest, we are loving every bit of it. Whether or not you celebrate Christmas, the holidays are a super joyous time full of family, fun and food and we’re here for it! As fun as it may be, decking the halls for Christmas can also mean your children feel like they’re walking all over the place on eggshells. Not being able to get near the tree or other expensive pieces can be tough, so we found a DIY Pom Pom Garland that they will be sure to enjoy making and hanging up!
Wildflowers Cotton Canvas Teepee
Welcome friends and family to your child’s little garden filled with vibrant colored flowers and butterflies! The cute pink and white cotton lining inside the teepee welcomes your child to play inside, and decorate with their own Christmas decorations to their heart’s content. With a roll up window, your child will have fun pretending and using their imagination to play. Made of durable cotton canvas and real bamboo poles, no floor is attached so a small table, chairs, or sleeping bag can fit inside. This 64″ x 45″ teepee featured four adorable little flags at the top make this teepee a truly unique piece to brighten any room!
DIY: Pom Pom Garland
Chances are, if you celebrate Christmas, you’ve already started decking the halls. Whether you are turning your home into a winter wonderland or something straight out of a Charles Dickens Christmas Village, everyone’s got a certain style. Sometimes we’ve got expensive, or sentimental, decorations hanging around, cringing whenever our kids come near it with a very solid “no touching” rule. This year, mix things up and have them help you decorate with our DIY Pom Pom Garland!
What you need
- Pom Poms
- String
- Needle
- Scissors
How you make it
- Make a really long piece of thread with a needle at the end
- Keep sliding pom poms through your needle onto the thread until you have a nice long piece to wrap around your teepee!
- Make loops on each end with the thread for easy hanging
- Start decking the halls!
More uses for the DIY Pom Pom Garland
Now that you have a DIY Pom Pom Garland, you might be wondering what to do with it next. It might not fit into the rest of the “vibe” of your house – and that’s okay! Your little one can still feel like they are part of the decorating process, and like they got their touch on the house. They’ll feel pretty excited to have their own little space decorated and even more excited to show it off to the rest of the family. We compiled our favorite ideas below!
Decorate your teepee
As much as we love our children and their creative minds, when it comes to Christmas, it’s a time for the parents to show off their skills. Let them decorate something of their very own with the DIY Pom Pom Garland, such as their teepee! It will help them get into the Christmas spirit, keep them busy for a few hours and let them feel like they’re part of the decorating process. You can even take it up a notch and get them their own little tree to put inside! You can even add some lights to put outside to really make it feel like their own little house.
Decorate the kid’s table
Make the “banishment” to the kids table less tortuous this year by decorating it just like the adult’s table! You can put the garland as a table runner, or soften the edges with it so you don’t have to worry too much about anyone banging any body parts on it. You can also use the garland to wrap their silverware around, or form in a circle for a centerpiece! Letting your little ones do the decorating for the kids table will make them more excited sit at and to show off to their cousins!
Make a Christmas wreath for their door
Just grab a wreath wire from Michael’s and take this DIY up another notch by creating a wreath for their room’s door. Hang it up with a Command Strip so there’s no damage, and viola! You can also grab some ornaments from the dollar store to hang on it, and also grab some pine cones from outside to attach, as well.
Use to wrap presents
You can make a bunch of smaller pieces of this garland to wrap around presents for your little ones to give the rest of the family! You can do longer pieces to wrap around boxes, or create little bows to stick right on top. Let’s face it – also works as a great conversation starter for the awkward moments your kids see those family members they hardly see, and they will be sure to appreciate all the hard work that went into it!
Hang a strip on the wall to clip Christmas cards onto
Sometimes we’re not exactly sure where to put all the beautiful Christmas cards that our family and friends send us. All the adorable family photos we receive are certainly worth showing off, but it can be hard to give up that extra counter space. If you have an empty space on the wall, hang up a short piece of the DIY Pom Pom Garland and attach the cards with tiny clothespins from Michael’s. Now you’ll be able to show off those beautiful cards without cluttering your counter or mantle this year!
