Halloween At Home Ideas
This year, Halloween is looking a little different. Between county health regulations and people’s comfort levels, much of the regular Halloween traditions are being put on hold this year. As hard as that may be, that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate at all. Keep reading for a few great ways to spend Halloween at home this year, and even begin making new traditions to keep for years to come.
Have a Spooky Night In
Not being able to trick or treat or gather with friends for Halloween is a huge bummer, but you don’t have to let it put a damper on the holiday. It might sound simple, but you can give your kids a great night in on Halloween. Here are some ideas:
- Bake some delicious Halloween treats, such as homemade versions of popular candy bars or just keep it simple with store-bought cookie mix. Your kids will love making them, and love eating them even more!
- Watch a kid-appropriate scary movie or Halloween-themed movie. Bonus points for turning off all the lights and cozying up in your tent!
- Dress up in your costumes — fully decked out — even with nowhere to go! Get crazy with the face paint, masks, or even have a costume fashion show. Take plenty of pictures to send around to family and friends!
- Hop on the computer with your friends and family to show off your costumes and Halloween decorations!
Local Activities
Many towns are putting on local, socially-distant events for Halloween. Between drive-through costume parades and drive-through haunted houses, there might be plenty to go see on Halloween night right near you.
Family Bike Ride or Walk
Hop on your bikes and take a ride around the neighborhood! Many people are still decking out their porches and front lawns even though they might not be passing out candy this year. If weather permits, get outside with your family and go see all the festive homes. Keep a log of your favorite ones and vote on which one you all think is the best!
Make and Delivering Treats
You can also spend Halloween making and delivering treats to family and loved ones! Start by making a good handful of our DIY paper tube bats and then filling them with delicious candy. Personalize them with messages for your family and friends, hop in the car, and go drop them off!
