With the holiday season officially in full swing, we’ve got our minds on one thing: Friendsgiving! It can be difficult to add yet another activity to your plate during this busy time of year but we promise that your kids will love celebrating with their friends AND it will help to drive home the practice of expressing gratitude for others. Today we’re sharing a few tips for creating a memorable “Friendsgiving” for children of all ages and showcasing one of our most colorful teepees, the Buttons & Blooms Interchangeable Multi-Panel Teepee!

Set the stage. One of the best ways to create a Friendsgiving to remember is to create a magical scene. Just as you would use your nicest dishes and fanciest silverware for an adult gathering, break out your children’s most festive (plastic) serveware, arrange a floral centerpiece, and add festive touches to the table.

Create a colorful backdrop. One of our favorite ways to instantly transform a space is to use one of our teepees! With the Buttons & Blooms Interchangeable Multi-Panel Teepee, your little ones can customize the exterior as often as they like, thanks to the innovative button construction. Made of four sturdy wooden poles and poly-cotton fabric, this 45″ x 45″ x 64″ teepee is built to last through many costume changes. Each interchangeable panel is attached by colorful buttons that foster creative thinking and hone fine motor skills. Whether you’re celebrating Friendsgiving or a basic playdate, this teepee is the perfect backdrop!

Use what you have. Thinking outside of the box doesn’t have to be expensive! For this table setting we repurposed our DIY leaves to scatter around the table and the floor. We also created free printable place cards that you can download here! Paper is one of the most affordable and easily accessible forms of decor.

Focus on friends. Once everyone is settled and enjoying each others’ company, ask the kids what they like most about each other. This is a great way to encourage meaningful discussions and build conversational skills!

If hosting a Friendsgiving isn’t in the cards for 2017, fear not; these tips can also be applied to taking the kids’ table to the next level on Thanksgiving as well!

Cheers to togetherness!
