Winter may be in full swing outside but it’s the perfect time to cultivate a garden indoors! Whether you grow succulents or sage, a little greenery goes a long way to brightening up these short Winter days. Today we are taking inspiration from our Tea Party Garden House Tent and creating custom planters using just a few basic craft supplies!

If the inclement weather has you scrambling for ideas to keep your children occupied inside, look no further than the garden section of your local home improvement store. We know that kids of all ages will love customizing their own planters and taking care of growing flowers. Here’s what you will need:

SUPPLIES:

  • Mini terra cotta planters
  • Flowers or herbs and soil
  • Chalkboard Paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Chalk

Begin by painting the entire exterior of the planter (including the base) with chalkboard paint to create a blank canvas.

Once the base coat is dry, grab the chalk and let your children decorate the planter to their hearts’ content.

After the design is finished, have the children plant their flowers or herbs into the planters.

This activity is the perfect opportunity to let the kids take the creative reins without too much adult supervision required.

There’s no better place to “plant” these pots than in the comfort of a Tea Party Garden House Tent! At 43″ x 43″ x 45″ high, there’s plenty of room for your child and their closest friends to hone their green thumbs.

Featuring colorful, home-inspired designs and airy mesh windows, this tent is easy to assemble and lightweight enough to enjoy indoors during the Winter and then move outdoors come Spring.

We hope you are having a wonderful Winter and enjoying quality time with your kids! They “grow” up so fast!
