It’s no secret that most of the world is ready for 2020 to come to an end. With so many drastic changes and unknowns, it can be difficult to find things to be thankful for this year. However, it is still important to take the time to teach your children that, even though 2020 hasn’t been the greatest, there is still plenty to be thankful for no matter what. Keep reading for a super sweet Thanksgiving DIY that just might become your family’s newest tradition.

Clubhouse House Tent

Kids only, no adults allowed! Our Clubhouse House Tent measures in at 50″ x 40″ x 50,” making it large enough for a “top secret” hangout for your child and their best pals. Featuring durable fabric designed for outdoor use and easy to clean up with a damp cloth, this product is sure to hold up to years of play. The Clubhouse is constructed of double stitched seams, radius cut hook and loop fasteners, and super poles that not only ensure safety and security but are also color-coated and come with a sturdy carrying bag for simple set-up and storage.

Since privacy is of the utmost importance at the Clubhouse, this product features doors that can be tied back with hook and loop fasteners and windows with roll-up flaps. There’s also a tunnel port for little ones to crawl through or connect to a Pacific Play Tents tunnel! Your child will enjoy adventures galore in the Clubhouse as the No-See-Um mesh allows for ventilation while keeping unwanted guests (i.e. bugs) at bay. What’s the password?

DIY: Thanksgiving Gratitude Box

Our worlds were rocked this year, and so were our children’s. Through all the madness, it’s important to help them keep sight of what is truly important and to be thankful for all that they have.

Our DIY Thanksgiving Gratitude Box is the perfect thing to start incorporating into your Thanksgiving family traditions — especially this year, where there is a pretty good chance you’re not able to do what you normally do or see who you normally see.

What You Need

  • Box with a cutout
  • Colored paper- for the feathers, beak, and wattles (red part above the beak)
  • Printable (optional for the eyes)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Brown paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Marker

How You Make It

  1. Go ahead and paint your box and let it dry. We chose brown, but if you want a purple turkey, go for it!
  2. Cut out the feather shape from the construction paper
  3. Glue feathers to the back/bottom of the box once the box dries
  4. Cut out a yellow stripe of paper that is the width of the cutout
  5. Glue one end inside the box and fold over
  6. Cut out the triangle shape for the beak
  7. Cut out wattle with red
  8. Cut out your choice of eyes from the printable and glue on the box above the beak
  9. Cut out leaf shapes to use for messages

How to Use The Gratitude Box

Now that you have your DIY Gratitude Box, it’s time to start filling it up! Here are some clever uses for your DIY Gratitude Box for Thanksgiving this year.

Use at the Thanksgiving Table

It can be a little intimidating, especially for kids, to announce what they are thankful for in front of so many people. If you have shy little ones, allow them the whole day to think of what they are thankful for and put it in the Gratitude Box. By the time dinner rolls around, one of the adults can read everything in the box — anonymous or not! It could be an even more fun touch to have everyone guess who’s is who’s!

Let Distant Family Members In On It

This year, there is a pretty good chance you might not get to see all your family members that you are used to seeing on Thanksgiving. Whether it is due to travel restrictions, fears over the virus, or health reasons, you may be looking for new ways to incorporate everybody. Have your distant family members add to the box and your kids will love seeing everyone take part — even though they might not physically be there.

Keep It Out Until New Year’s Eve

Everyone is ready for 2020 to go bye-bye, even kiddos! Keep the gratitude box out for the rest of the year until New Year’s Eve, and spend some time reflecting on the good that 2020 brought rather than the bad.
